Activities: Using conjunctions in English

Activity 1

Look at the sentences below and join them using a conjunction from the list above:

  1. I went to the bank. I needed money. (reason)
  2. I have a car. I go to work by train. (contrast)
  3. I went to university. I started working here. (time)
  4. I wanted some food. I went to the supermarket. (purpose)

Complete the following sentences using a conjunction:

  1. I am going to go to bed. I am tired.
  2. England is expensive. You need a lot of money to live there.
  3. I love England. I love Spain more.
  4. I went to bed. I watched a movie.

 

 

Activity 2

Put ‘because’ in the correct place (at the beginning or in the middle) in the following sentences and add commas where needed:

  1. It is raining. We will not go to the beach.
  2. The team lost. They played badly.
  3. I studied hard. I passed the test.
  4. Giraffes are tall. They eat leaves from trees.
  5. It is my birthday. I will eat lots of cake.
  6. I think my mother is the best in the world. I am her son.
