Activity 1

Complete the following sentences with the correct relative pronoun (who, which or where):

  1. James, ____ is 25, is starting a new job next week.
  2. My dad has a car, _______ is red.
  3. My office, ______ I spend a lot of time working, is very big.
  4. Spain, ______ I was born, is a beautiful country.
  5. My uncle, ______ is a lawyer, lives in Germany.
  6. I have a house, ______ has five bedrooms.

 

 

Activity 2

Combine the following sentences into 1 using a relative clause and a relative pronoun from above:

 

Example: John is married to Ria. He is a doctor.

                     John, who is a doctor, is married to Ria.

 

  1. Big Ben is about 150 years old. It is a famous attraction in London.
  2. Simon has two children. They are called Tim and Emily.
  3. My house is in the countryside. I work in my house.
  4. Mr. Smith is my teacher. He is very tall.
  5. I love Barcelona. My mother was born there.
  6. The English exam was yesterday. It was very difficult.

 

 

Activity 3

Complete the following sentences with who or whom:

 

  1. Peter, ______ makes me laugh, is moving to Berlin.
  2. Peter, ______ I have known for years, is moving to Berlin.
  3. Mary, ______ I taught English, has just had a baby.
  4. Mary, ______ was my best student, has just had a baby.
  5. Einstein, ______ a lot of people respect, was a brilliant scientist.
  6. Einstein, ______ died in the 1950s, was a brilliant scientist.
